Anu is a proud graduate of the Toronto District School Board. She
completed her Bachelors of Honours (with distinction) at the University
of Toronto, St. George, in Political Science and Criminology. She
obtained her Masters and PhD. in Sociology at the University of
Windsor. She taught at McMaster University, Trent University, and
held a lecture appointment at Carleton University before she was
appointed Assistant Professor at York University in the Children,
Childhood, and Youth Program. She has also taken leadership roles
at the university level on various committees.
Anu has published numerous academic articles on youth issues in Scarborough. Anu has been invited to various talks. She has presented her work at national and international conferences. She has also worked as a research consultant for the TDSB. Most recently, she co-authored, “STEM Teaching and Learning in the Toronto District School Board. Deepening, Sustaining, Building Coherence and Fostering Student Learning and Equity.” She has also worked on the Renewed Math Strategy and Student Achievement reports.
She is a proud resident of Scarborough, where she lives with her husband, an elementary teacher.
